Hawzah News Agency- In a statement released on Sunday, the Najaf-based religious authority expressed deep sorrow over the killing and injury of dozens of worshippers during the attack, offering condolences to the families of the victims and prayers for the swift recovery of the wounded.
“Once again, treacherous and sinful hands have struck the hearts of Muslims in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,” the statement said, adding that the attack on a place of worship represents a blatant violation of religious, moral, and human values.
Ayatollah Najafi stressed that the primary responsibility lies with the relevant authorities to carry out a thorough and transparent investigation, and to bring to justice not only the direct perpetrators but also those who incited, facilitated, or supported the crime financially or ideologically.
He further urged the Muslim Ummah to remain vigilant against sectarian strife, warning that extremist-driven divisions have, over the years, brought nothing but bloodshed, suffering, and instability to Muslim societies.
“The duty of scholars, intellectuals, and community leaders is to raise awareness, particularly among the youth, and to prevent them from falling into the trap of sectarian tensions and religious discord,” the statement noted. “This destructive path has been repeatedly tested and has yielded nothing except death and pain for sincere followers of Islam.”
The senior cleric also reiterated his solidarity with the bereaved families and survivors, praying for patience and strength for those who lost loved ones and for the rapid healing of the injured.
Ayatollah Najafi emphasized that the victims of the attack were martyred in the path of God, while the perpetrators, he said, would inevitably face divine justice.
“There is no fate for such criminal acts other than the worst of consequences,” the statement concluded.
Pakistan has witnessed repeated attacks on religious minorities in recent years, with Shia Muslims frequently targeted by extremist groups, despite official assurances of enhanced security measures.
